- Retell bills each call to the second and adds the minutes up over the billing cycle, with no rounding up per call.
- Silence and hold time are billed, because speech recognition keeps listening for the whole call.
- After a transfer the AI agent fee stops; only telephony continues.
- Custom telephony (your own SIP trunk) carries no Retell telephony charge; Retell's own numbers cost $2.00 a month each plus the per-minute call rate.
- The first 20 concurrent calls are free; each further one costs $8.00 a month.
- Prompts over 4,000 tokens scale the billed duration: 4,800 tokens make a 60-second call bill as 72 seconds.
- New accounts get $10 of free credit.
- Retell's own estimator opens at $0.23 a minute: GPT 5.5 at $0.16, voice infra at $0.055 and its platform voices at $0.015.

How do you calculate the minutes? Each call is tracked to the nearest second. At the end of each billing cycle, we charge based on your total accumulated minutes. No rounding up per call, no inflated bills. Does billing continue after a transfer? Once the call is transferred, the AI voice agent fee stops. Only the telephony fee continues for the remainder of the transferred call. Am I charged during silence or hold time? Yes. Billing covers the entire duration of the call because the speech-to-text engine remains active and listening throughout, even during silence.
