Play.ht alternatives by cost per minute
Play.ht is no longer reachable. When we checked on 5 October 2026, play.ht and play.ai had no web address records, and play.ht's domain was served by Meta's nameservers. If you relied on it, here is what the same minutes cost elsewhere.
We couldn't find a shutdown notice from Play.ht itself, so we report only what we observed. LOVO (Genny), another common choice, returned "deployment disabled" errors on the same day.
If you used the Play.ht studio
The five cheapest apps with an editor for 120 minutes of speech a month:

The cheapest rows are often older "standard" voices. If you need voices closer to what Play.ht offered, listen to the neural and premium tiers before choosing on price.
Before you switch
- Cloned voices don't transfer between vendors. Plan to re-record samples and re-clone.
- Check commercial-use rights on the plan you pick; the free tiers of Murf, Speechify and WellSaid exclude them, and Cartesia lists a commercial licence only from its Pro plan.
- Export anything you still have locally: past Play.ht audio can't be re-downloaded once its site is gone.
